Learning data skills to open reality

A one-day Data Journalism Conference with workshops, talks, panels and a lot of fun.

To have data from governments and corporations does not necessarily mean to have a more informed and fair society. People need to be able to extract meaning from open data. And this is only possible if the actors who are at the forefront of the public debate, such as journalists, researchers, social organizations and concerned citizens, have the appropriate knowledge to deal with the data available. This one day conference provides debates on the impact of open data in the journalism field and hands-on workshops on data literacy skills.

Over the last three years, School of Data has partnered with CSOs & journalism networks to produce and deliver individualised training programmes designed to help their respective communities to use data effectively. Medialab Prado is a technology lab and a hub for citizen activism, and it has hosted numerous workshops and conferences. The Datacrunch is the first international open event of this network. Madrid is our first meeting point, right before the International Open Data Conference. Come join us!
